ABOUT BSM

Bloomingdale School of Music means different things to different people. For a toddler it might be the discovery of the fast and slow rhythms of an egg shaker. For a five-year-old beginner it may be sheer delight as she learns Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on her violin for the first time. For an older adult it may be a rekindled passion for an instrument studied as a child. For a student on scholarship who couldn't afford to study music without a financial aid award, Bloomingdale might mean the promise of a dream fulfilled. For a high school student preparing for a college program music audition the school is where his talent and hard work materialized into focused goals.

It is a testament to Bloomingdale's diversity that all these students can exist in one school. We are proud that we serve students of vastly different ages and interests. Our teachers and staff reflect the diversity of our students. From jazz musician to conservatory trained classical players to rock drummer, every faculty member has the same end goal—to nurture and develop each students natural ability and love of music.

Bloomingdale is a place where students do more than just take lessons and faculty do more than just teach. It is a place where ideas are exchanged and creativity flows. As you explore bsmny.org, I hope you will discover what Bloomingdale can mean for you or your child. No matter what your musical goal might be. I am confident that we have a place for you at our school.
