Henry Cole, drums

Henry Cole, jazz drummer, emerged onto the music scene in old San Juan where studied classical percussion at the conservatorio de musica de Puerto Rico. While attending Berklee College of Music (Boston MA) on scholarship Cole's musical evolution pointed him toward the jazz tradition. He performed as the "house drummer" for the 1 st "jazzboriken" festival in San Juan Puerto Rico where he played with such jazz luminaries as Giovani Hidalgo, Papo Vasquez, Bobby Valentin, Anthony Carrillo, William Cepeda, David Sanchez, and Paoli Mejias among others. He worked extensively in P.R. with a variety of artist and groups including Danilo Perez (master class), Branford Marsalis (master class), Eric Figueroa (latin jazz trio), Luis Marin (jazz trio), PVC (salsa), Afrorican Jazz, Vivanativa (rock), Ramon Vasquez Quartet, among others as well as conducting drum-set clinics for the percussion festival at the cconservatorio de musica de Puerto Rico, and for the inter American university. Henry Cole moved to New York to attend the Manhattan School of Music and is a student of drummer/composer John Riley. Since his arrival he has performed with Miguel Zenon's rhythm collective, Oscar Feldman, Paquito d'Rivera and David Sanchez sextet, touring Spain, Greece, and the United States.
