Itai Kriss, flute

Kriss is a young dynamic flutist, whose musical style encompasses both jazz and Latin sounds. As a pivotal member of the Israeli jazz scene, he has performed in such Tel Aviv venues as Camelot, The Left Bank, the Tel Aviv Art Museum and the Red Sea International Jazz Festival. In New York, Kriss has played at The Blue Note, Birdland, Smalls, Nell's, Fat Cat, Cleopatra's Needle, Forbidden City, Zinc Bar, Smoke, The Cutting Room, Nuyorican Poet's Café, and Jules among other venues. Kriss can be heard performing regularly as part of the Ray Santiago Afro-Cuban Band, and fronting his own jazz quartet in addition to other projects. Kriss's unique sound won him the support of the Jerusalem Department of Cultural Affairs, which sponsored his debut recording Sababa (Yellow Submarine, 2000). His collaboration with critically acclaimed pianist Jon Regen led to the release of Tel Aviv, recorded live at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art Concert Hall (HiTone Records, 2001). His latest recording project features original compositions along with fresh arrangements of traditional Israeli and Hebrew songs.
