Rebecca Beberaggi, Violin Student in the Music
Access Project
As a student in Bloomingdale's Music Access Project,
Rebecca Beberaggi plays mostly classical music on the violin,
but her music listening these days includes mainly rock,
alternative, and movie soundtracks. Two years ago
she melded her love of classical and rock music together
when she arranged a version of Coldplay's "X and Y" for Bloomingdale's
Preparatory Orchestra. Becky's arrangement was performed
with great success in Spring 2006 to a full audience at Christ
and St. Stephen's Church.
Becky discovers new artists through recommendations from
friends, browsing the iTunes store, or from listening to
the radio. "What draws me to an artist or album is
of course the music, but I really love to hear the lyrics." Becky
would recommend any of the albums below to anyone who shares
her taste in music or is "open to being introduced to different
artists." |

Artist: Eisley
Album: Room Noises
Why Becky likes this particular artist/album: Eisley is
one of my favorite bands and I especially like how their
lyrics are very poetic.
Favorite track(s) on the album: Track 1, "Memories," Track
2, "Telescope Eyes," Track 3, "I Wasn't Prepared," and Track
8 "My Lovely."
Artist: The Beatles
Album: The Beatles: 1967-1970
Why Becky likes this particular artist/album: The Beatles
are my all time favorite band. I really like this
album because it has all of their best songs.
Favorite track(s) on the album: Disc 1, Track 13, "Hey Jude," Disc
2, Track 2, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," and Disc 2, Track
9 "Come Together."
Artist: Gustavo Santaolla
Album: The Motorcycle Diaries
Why Becky likes this particular artist/album: I especially
like this soundtrack because of the very pretty melodies
that are played with classical guitar and strings. The
chord progressions are so simple but Gustavo Santaolla uses
different instruments to make it richer and I think the result
is great.
Favorite track(s) on the album: Track 1, "Apertura," Track
3, "Chichina," and Track 11, "Lima."
Artist: The White Stripes
Album: Elephant
Why you like this particular artist/album: I have most
of The White Stripes albums but this is probably my favorite
one so far. Even though the songs on the album are
all similar, the band has a unique sound and there is a story
in every song. It's fun to listen to.
Favorite track(s) on the album: Track 1, "Seven Nation Army," Track
5, "In the Cold, Cold, Night," and Track 12, "The Air Near
My Fingers." |
