What you will learn

In this class, we will discover music written by great women composers throughout the history: from Hildegard von Bingen, Francesca Caccini, Barbara Strozzi, Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, Cecile Chaminade, Louise Farrenc, Lili Boulanger, Nadia Boulanger, Amy Beach, Joan Tower, Jennifer Higdon, Du Yun, to Caroline Shaw. Despite obstacles, women musicians have created remarkable master pieces. They have started to gain more and more recognition during the most recent decades.

Students discover some of the greatest women composers’ life journey and history.

Repertoire

Students will be exposed to some of the less well-known compositions written by female composers.
