What you will learn

This course will focus on exploring the personalities, the characteristics and the strong points of some of the most significant pianists in the 20th century that have shaped the way we listen and play music to this day. Pianists such as Sergey Rachmaninoff, Joseff Hoffmann, Vladimir Horowitz, or more recently Martha Argerich, Maurizio Pollini or Kristian Zimmerman are the forefront of piano performance. They embody the instrument, the repertoire and a different approach to music and to piano playing. This is a seminar based class, with an oral presentation and guided listening/visualizing videos of pianists performing their music on Zoom.
