What you will learn

Students will develop a working knowledge of note-reading, key signatures, time signatures, rhythmic notation in a way that is clear, understandable, and useful.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

Students study music theory with instruments in hand and at every turn, apply the materials of the class directly to music making.

Styles and Genres

Students will develop a fluency and ease with basic music concepts and be comfortable the various styles of music making including classical, jazz, rock, pop and world music.

Develop Confidence

Students will develop confidence in their skill in music making, including playing by ear and improvising, and reading, writing, and composing music.
