What you will learn

In this six-week online workshop series, instrumentalists will dive into diverse Latin-American repertoire,especially folk and Afro-influenced music. We will learn from its background, historic significance, and musical challenges through interactive workshops, performances, and discussions.

Expanded Knowledge

By the end of this course students will acquire competency in repertoire outside of the Eurocentric model.

Historical Context

Students will gain a general understanding on colonizing ideals and its effects on music and musician training.

Final Project

The class will culminate with an optional live performance or sound recording project.
