Online Dalcroze Class

Bloomingdale’s Dalcroze specialist Aaron Butler will present an online experience like no other for students ages 2 to 5. Each class will meet together in week one to get to know one another, learn a hello and goodbye song and have show and tell – they will meet again at the end of the summer as well. Weekly, Aaron will send a video for families to use throughout the week based on students’ interests, family resources at home and responses from the regular interactions he has with families.

Families will also have the chance to sign up for weekly one on one times with Aaron which will follow up on recorded content, explore the instruments at home, allow for playing fun games, and following the students’ interests (singing, moving around, drumming, specific songs they’ve learned, certain subjects they love, etc.)

What you will learn

Students are introduced to the music through storytelling, personal and physical experience. This is a hands on approach to music theory in which students can say, in Dalcroze’s own words, “I know, because I have experienced.”

Physical Experience

Students begin by sequentially feeling, identifying, vocalizing, and visualizing music.

Music Theory

Through these techniques tempo, melody, rhythm patterns, phrase, and meter will be studied.

Music Moves

Through movement, students embody and develop a deeper understanding of the energy of music.

BECAUSE MUSIC MATTERS

MUSIC EDUCATION CHANGES LIVES

We provide access to music education to anyone who seeks it, regardless of economic status, ability, ethnicity, or religion, which has a profound impact on individual lives as well as on our entire community.

We offer Need-based financial assistance

Our goal is to make music education accessible and to remove the financial barrier that may prevent students from participating. Therefore, we offer need-based financial aid to as many students as possible.
