What you will learn

Participants will develop fundamental music skills in a workshop environment both as soloists and ensemble players. They will also learn examples from the canon and hopefully expand their listening skills as well. Participants will also develop a basic working knowledge of concert preparation, gear maintenance and tone production as it pertains to a rock environment.

EXPAND REPERTOIRE

There is nothing quite like the camaraderie offered by sharing a musical experience in a band. While the focus of the ensemble is rock, I believe investigating a particular genre/repertoire in any style provokes the exploration of others and expands musical knowledge generally. This is compounded when done among friends.

BUILD SKILLS WITH A GROUP

Having company not only boosts confidence in performance but also greatly improves the quality of the music. With passion and mutual support, anything is possible on the stage.

performance OPPORTUNITIES

The Bloomingdale Rock band will perform a concert of its own on campus at the end of the Fall 2023 semester. Students will adopt a band name and present their work under this moniker. Furthermore, if applicable, I welcome the students to compose original work for the concert as the history of rock is one driven by the pursuit of individuality.
