The one on one connection between a student and their private instructor is a unique shared experience. Bloomingdale offers in person and online lessons in nearly 20 instruments. Give it a try for only $30!
Enrich your Fall with the experience of learning an instrument or singing with peers. Group classes are available in several instruments as well as singing and are a great introduction to music education. Classes are organized by age group.

Find your voice in a pressure free, fun and relaxed atmosphere in the company of other adults. With a focus on healthy singing techniques, this class will incorporate breathing techniques, proper enunciation and pronunciation, and ways to better utilize your voice.

Students will gain a worldview of rhythm, percussion, timing, and musical approaches coming from the drum perspective, but invaluable to all musicians. Following chronologically from the earliest west african, afro cuban, afro brazilian, into modern jazz, swing, and even exploring odd meter and metric modulation techniques.

Students will gain a worldview of percussion, getting to experience not only a bevy of instruments and techniques like soloing, but also exploring world music concepts like clave and polyrhythmic approaches.

Our goal is to make music education accessible and to remove the financial barrier that may prevent students from participating. Therefore, we offer need-based financial aid to as many students as possible.
Deadline to apply for financial aid is August 15th, 2023.

Our 30, 45 and 60-minute music lessons give prospective students the opportunity to experience our community and the hands-on learning students enjoy. Lessons are taught by passionate and experienced faculty who customize lessons for each student. 30-minute Trial classes are $30.

Join our Early Childhood faculty for fun, interactive, and music-filled classes to engage the youngest learners throughout the Summer months. Offerings are available in person in our newly renovated recital hall, on a variety of days and times to suit every family’s scheduling needs and every child’s delight. Children from 3 months to 5 years old will learn musical concepts through hands-on percussive experiences, as well as song and dance.
Our beginner classes for children and teens provide an excellent introduction to our most popular instruments. The supportive group class settings allow students to work together, learn together, and help one another as they come across musical challenges together.
Students ages 8 and up can participate in performance-based classes with a wide variety of offerings for all instruments and ages, both in-person and online. Each of our ensembles provides students with invaluable group rehearsal and performance experience and creates an immersive environment that allows students of various ages and ability levels to connect, collaborate, and learn together!

Bloomingdale Resident Teaching Artist, Marc Peloquin, leads a series of 4-week music courses for adults designed to give students a basic understanding of music and inspire an appreciation for music through a variety of musical styles. Each class in this lecture series will feature live demonstrations of musical concepts, discussion, and recorded listening examples. These courses will give you tools and context to better appreciate the magical world of music.
