What you will learn

Children will be led in singing songs, rhythmic movement games, improvisational jam sessions, and instrument show and tell! Music literacy is gained through learning basic note recognition, dynamics, tempo, the G clef, and singing solfege.

Music literacy through games

Children will play a number of games that help children recognize and write rhythms; understand solfege; identify the lines and spaces on the G clef, and more!

Hands on instrument exploration

Children play many instruments during the course of the semester, including: Barred percussion instruments, simple stringed instruments, small and large percussion, world music instruments and more!

Social interaction

classes are designed for children to work with each other in a cooperative manner by playing in ensembles, improvising together, sharing and taking turns, which helps to create empathy and sense of community.
