Financial Aid and Scholarships

Bloomingdale has a long-standing commitment to financial aid. We believe music is for everyone, and offer more than 25% of our students tuition assistance each year.

Financial Aid and Scholarship Options

One of Bloomingdale’s distinctive characteristics is its commitment to providing scholarships and financial aid to qualifying families. Annually, Bloomingdale offers more than $250K in financial support through three aid-granting programs, as outlined below. Funding for these are provided by the generosity of individual donors and charitable foundations.

General Financial Aid

Over 125 students receive some form of aid with an average of $150,000 in need-based financial aid awarded each year. BSM offers support for students of any age and ability level, from early childhood to adult learners. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, however awards are not guaranteed and generally do not exceed 70% of the total tuition.

Financial aid recipients are required to have an excellent attendance record (no more than one unexcused absence) and to put reasonable effort into their class or lesson. Fall students who meet all of the requirements may have their grants renewed for the Spring semester. All students must reapply for the Summer and Fall semester each year.

What you need to know

To apply for general financial aid, parents or adult students are required to review financial aid guidelines and complete and submit an online application form. Applications must be received prior to the deadline of the desired semester.

If you are unable to complete an online application form, a paper form can be filled out and submitted either in person or by emailing a completed copy to registrar@bsmny.org.

Every application is reviewed on its own merits and awards are granted at the discretion of the Financial Aid Committee through a confidential review process. The committee will convene 3 times a year to review applications.
