Intro to Dalcroze: Drop-In Class Package

In this class students will have the opportunity to begin developing sensitivity to dynamics and other concepts such as phrasing. Providing valuable building blocks toward further music studies, Dalcroze introduces students to music reading, composition, conducting, and ensemble playing.

*This class requires a parent or caregiver in attendance.

Note: This is a package of 8 convenient drop in classes during the semester. Classes meet every Monday at 10am and Sunday at 10am with Aaron Butler, following our academic calendar. Registering for the full 17 week semester will allow for pedagogical consistency as well as a discounted tuition rate!

What you will learn

Students are introduced to the music through storytelling, personal and physical experience. This is a hands on approach to music theory in which students can say, in Dalcroze’s own words, “I know, because I have experienced.”

Ages 2-3 with Parent/Caregiver: Mondays 10:00-10:45am
Ages 2.5-3.5 with Parent/Caregiver: Sundays 10:00-10:45am

Physical Experience

Students begin by sequentially feeling, identifying, vocalizing, and visualizing music, and may also apply these experiences to instruments.

Music Theory

The basic building concepts of music will be studied such as tempo, melody, rhythm patterns, phrase, and meter.

Make Friends

Students will develop socialization skills and create new friendships.
