Sonatas for Guitar and Piano: Bach, Carulli, Ponce
Three major works trace the development of music for guitar and keyboard from the Baroque era through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Bach’s intricate counterpoint, Carulli’s operatic lyricism, and Ponce’s neoclassical imagination create a program in which guitar and piano continually exchange melodic and harmonic roles. Adapted by the performers for their instrumentation, the works form a chamber dialogue spanning centuries of musical style.
