What you will learn

Students will develop a working knowledge of  Building Music: Flats, Sharps, Scales, Circle of Fifths, Intervals, and Key Signatures in a way that is clear, understandable, and useful.

practical application

Students study music theory with instruments in hand and at every turn apply the materials of the class directly to music-making.

styles and genres

Students will develop fluency and ease with basic music concepts and be comfortable with various styles of music-making including classical, jazz, rock, pop, and world music.

develop confidence

With their acquired skills in music understanding, students will develop the confidence to open many doors including playing by ear, improvising, reading, writing, or composing music.
