Percussion Exploration
Percussion Exploration is a percussion class for kids in NYC ages 9–12 that introduces students to the exciting world of percussion, hand drumming, rhythm, and ensemble music-making. Through hands-on playing, students build fundamental musical skills while developing creativity, coordination, confidence, and teamwork.

What you'll learn in Percussion Exploration
Students explore a variety of percussion instruments while building a strong foundation for continued musical study. Through rhythm, movement, improvisation, and group music-making, they develop skills that can support future private lessons, ensembles, and other musical experiences.
Percussion, Rhythm, and Music Reading
Students learn to play a variety of percussion instruments and rhythmic patterns while developing coordination, steady beat, and basic music-reading skills. Hands-on activities help students understand the connection between movement, rhythm, and musical expression.
Expression and Creativity
Improvisation gives students the opportunity to experiment with sound, create their own musical ideas, and express themselves in a supportive environment. Students develop a shared musical vocabulary while discovering their own creativity as young musicians.
Ensemble Skills and Teamwork
Making music together teaches students how to listen, cooperate, communicate nonverbally, and contribute to an ensemble. Students learn how their individual part fits into a larger musical whole while building confidence and having fun creating music with others.
