Dear BSM Community:
On Monday March 7th NYC Mayor Adams announced that New York City’s mask mandate for all NYC public schools and proof-of-vaccination requirement for indoor venues was going to be ended after a steep decline in coronavirus cases.
How does this affect activity at Bloomingdale?
Starting on Monday, March 14, 2022, Bloomingdale will shift to a mask optional policy for visitors ages 5 and up who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including faculty, students, parents, and guests. Our vaccination policy for all visitors (faculty, students, families, staff, and guests) entering the school will remain in effect.
Who should continue wearing masks after the 14th?
- All Early Childhood classes will remain masked including students, faculty, and parents/caregivers in the classroom.
- Any unvaccinated visitors under 5 must continue to wear face masks while in BSM facilities.
- Concert patrons attending any in school event or function will remain masked.
BSM faculty members reserve the right to request students in their lessons, classes, and rehearsals to remain masked. Similarly, students and parents request the right to request their instructor to remain masked. Instructors and families should communicate their preferences to each other to ensure a smooth and respectful transition. Masks will continue to be available at the front desk upon request.
Daily health screenings will not be required for building entry starting Monday, March 14th. We expect any students, parents, staff, or guests to not come onsite if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or other illness or have tested positive for COVID-19 within the prior 10 days. Any positive cases should continue to be immediately reported to Bloomingdale’s Registration team by email at registrar@bsmny.org.
The health and safety of our students and our community is of utmost importance; we will continue to monitor NYC government guidelines and provide updates as needed.
