Khesner Oliveira

Khesner Oliveira is a performing artist and educator based in New York whose work explores the intersections of percussion, performance, and interdisciplinary practice. His artistic practice moves across traditional Brazilian music, solo and orchestral repertoire, and free improvisation, with a particular interest in experimental approaches to sound and performance. As a soloist, Khesner explores contemporary works that invite both performer and audience into an active and immersive concert experience. Collaboration is central to his artistic practice: he regularly commissions new works, performs chamber music, and develops projects with artists across disciplines. Alongside his performing career, Khesner has spent the past decade teaching students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities, from primary education through university-level instruction. His creative practice includes performances in unconventional spaces, premieres of new works, album recordings, and the co-founding of ensembles and artistic projects. Khesner holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the Universidade Federal de Goiás and a Master of Music in Performance from Georgia State University. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University.
