BSM Collaborates with Chamber Music Center of New York

BSM Hosts Chamber Music Center of New York’s Adult Amateur Intensive Weekend

2012-13 has been a year of exciting collaborations between Bloomingdale and other NYC musical organizations. We have already written about our partnership with Jazz at Lincoln Center and are now pleased to announce a new relationship with the Chamber Music Center of New York, founded by pianist and chamber music coach, Mary Jo Pagano.

From January 31st to February 2nd, Bloomingdale will host the Chamber Music Center of New York’s first Amateur Adult Chamber Music Intensive. The program will run primarily in the evening to accommodate daytime work schedules and will include several hours of coaching, practice support, and a final concert by the participating adult musicians. Students will receive coaching sessions from Ms. Pagano along with other New York City teaching artists/musicians. Auditions are necessary and priority will be given to applications received before December 15th.

Mary Jo Pagano has spent over twenty-five years coordinating chamber music experiences for students of all ages. She has an extensive knowledge of the repertoire and brings a unique combination of administrative, teaching, and performance skills to this endeavor. At Bloomingdale we believe that playing with others is essential to the music-making experience and encourage all our students to participate in an ensemble. Ms. Pagano will also present a master class for Bloomingdale students during the 2012-13 school year (date to be announced later). We are always seeking ways to grow chamber music at the school and are excited to be a partner and host for the inaugural CMC Amateur Adult Chamber Music Intensive.
