SUMMER WORKSHOP FOR TEENS
SUMMER JAZZ 4 TEENS
Summer Jazz 4 Teens is an immersive program offering young musicians the opportunity to collaborate, rehearse, and perform in a Jazz Ensemble. This one-week workshop will be led by faculty saxophonist Daniel Bennett, together with Bloomingdale faculty and special guest artists.
The week is open to young musicians aged 12–18 who have been studying their instrument for at least one year.
The program runs Monday, July 27th to Friday July 31st from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Bloomingdale School of Music.
*An extended day option is available from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for an additional $150. Please reach out to the front office at registrar@bsmny.org to express interest in this option.

What you will learn
The program includes improvisation workshops for instrumentalists, combo rehearsals, daily masterclasses, a theory and listening lab, a dedicated workshop for jazz vocalists, a half day field trip, and an end of week student performance. Participants will play the music of Charlie Parker, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Miles Davis, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and more.
WORKSHOPS & MASTERCLASSES
Throughout the week, students will participate in improvisation workshops for instrumentalists, daily masterclasses, and a workshop for jazz vocalists.
HALF-DAY FIELD TRIP
Students will travel beyond the brownstone and learn more about jazz music and the venues that showcase them.
END OF WEEK SHOWCASE
The Summer Jazz 4 Teens workshop students will have the opportunity to perform for family and friends at the end of the week
