Join us for our Fall 2017 Instrument Discovery Day! During this FREE OPEN HOUSE EVENT, children of all ages will have the opportunity to hear, hold and play over 14 different instruments with the guidance of BSM faculty and staff. Our staff will also be on-hand to answer any questions you may have about registration options for BSM’s 2017-2018 course offerings. Big discounts for those who register for classes on the day of the event!

Fall 2017 Registration

Registration is now open for the fall 2017 semester which begins Monday, September 11th. Bloomingdale has some new additions to our course offerings this season which are listed below.

BSM New Ensembles for Fall 2017

Applied Jazz Improvisation (ages 14- adult) Mondays 6:45-8pm – An overview of the fundamentals of jazz improvisation in an interactive combo setting. Musical concepts will be discussed and demonstrated, then applied immediately to common jazz forms and styles. Topics will include chord/scale theory, developing rhythmic time/feel, maintaining form, arpeggios, blues and basic pentatonic usage, dominant chords, and the ii-V-I progression. All instruments welcome.

Way Out Creative Ensemble (ages 10+) Mondays 6-8pm – A wild ensemble experience, Way Out is a chance for students interested in trying their hand at composition in collaborative, imaginative, and fun new ways. Working outside of staff paper this class seeks to create pieces using experimental sounds, working with friends, and using the space around them.
