Vocal Workshop: Saturday, 4/12/14

On Saturday April 12, 2014, Bloomingdale will present its third festival of the year with a Vocal Workshop and Concert. The event is spearheaded by BSM’s dedicated vocal faculty members Katherine Copland and Christine Browning.

A master class given by guest artist Jacob Smith will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students will be nominated to participate and will have a chance to work with Mr. Smith.

The master class is closed to the public but guests are encouraged and invited to attend the 4:00 p.m. concert in the David Greer Recital Hall at Bloomingdale. Students will be performing Broadway, Disney, and Pop Music. It is sure to be a lot of fun!

About Jacob Lewis Smith

Known for his versatility, Jacob Lewis Smith has crossed the genres of opera, musical theater, dance and film. He recently recorded the role of Taxi Black in One Touch of Venus with Victoria Clark and Ron Raines, wrote and recorded on the Grammy nominated album Watch the Throne with Kanye West and Jay Z, and performed Huck Finn in the world premiere of Kurt Weills Huck Finn in Germany. He is a winner of the prestigious Lotte Lenya Competition, and has appeared on NBCs Smash, City of Dreams and Diary of a Mulatto Bride, with work to begin on the indie film TUCHT this spring. Favorite regional and international stage roles include: The Emcee in Cabaret, Dick Mcgann in Street Scene at Chautauqua Opera, CHESS, Alan Menkens A Christmas Carol, The Preacher in Down in the Valley, Cinderellas Prince in Into the Woods, Miles Gloriosus in A Funny Thing Happened in the Way to the Forum, HAIR, And the World Goes Round, The Secret Garden, Mame, and is currently working on a new one man show set to begin spring 2015. Jacob is honored and excited to have been invited to the Bloomingdale School of Music!
