What you will learn

In this four-week lecture series, adult participants will enrich their understanding of music by engaging with the fundamental elements involved in musical perception through group discussion, recorded listening examples, and live demonstrations of musical concepts.

summer 2026 semester:
The american songbook

In this class you will learn about great music and lyrics of the American Songbook written by such masters as George and Ira Gershwin and Stephen Sondheim. The class will combine listening and lively conversation about these works as well as learning some of the musical techniques that go into writing a great song. A wonderful way to spend a summer evening!
