Summer Strings Intensive is a dynamic, one-week program designed for bowed string students to grow through collaboration and performance. Led by Bloomingdale’s expert string faculty with special guest artists, the intensive includes String Orchestra, Chamber Music, interactive workshops, masterclasses, music theory sessions, and a special field trip—all culminating in a student concert.

Summer Piano Intensive is a one-week immersive program where piano students develop their skills through collaboration and performance. Step into the world of pop and rock with Bloomingdale’s Summer Pop/Rock Week, a one-week immersive experience where young musicians form bands, collaborate on popular songs and original music, and learn the essentials of playing in a pop and rock ensemble. Through jam sessions, group rehearsals, and hands-on work in our GarageBand Lab, students build skills and confidence, culminating in a final concert performance. Led by Bloomingdale faculty, Edu Gutterres.

Explore the art of jazz improvisation in Bloomingdale’s Summer Jazz 4 Teens Week, a one-week immersive workshop for young instrumentalists and vocalists. Students collaborate in combo rehearsals, daily masterclasses, and theory and listening labs while developing ensemble skills and musical confidence. Led by saxophonist Daniel Bennett, the program culminates in an end-of-week student performance and field trip and creative collaboration throughout sessions.

This summer, join a traveling band of kids in search of their instrument of choice!
This week-long program is designed for children entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade to help them learn which instrument they are most excited to study. Children experience the violin, piano, wind instruments and more in daily sessions led by faculty artists specializing in each instrument. These young musicians will also experience theater games, instrument making, percussion classes and a final showcase!

This week-long program is designed for children aged 4-6 to allow them to explore the fascinating world of musical instruments! They will experience meeting instruments from the strings, woodwinds, and percussion families with a chance to try playing each instrument with our esteemed faculty.
Let your little one (infant–6 years old) sing, play instruments, and make new friends in a fun and engaging music class! This July, we’re adding weekly Early Childhood classes, giving even more opportunities for infants to 5-year-olds to explore music in an interactive, play-based environment.

Our 30, 45 and 60-minute music lessons give prospective students the opportunity to experience our community and the hands-on learning students enjoy. Lessons are taught by passionate and experienced faculty who customize lessons for each student. 30-minute Trial classes are $30.

Join our Early Childhood faculty for fun, interactive, and music-filled classes to engage the youngest learners throughout the Summer months. Offerings are available in person in our newly renovated recital hall, on a variety of days and times to suit every family’s scheduling needs and every child’s delight. Children from 3 months to 5 years old will learn musical concepts through hands-on percussive experiences, as well as song and dance.
Our beginner classes for children and teens provide an excellent introduction to our most popular instruments. The supportive group class settings allow students to work together, learn together, and help one another as they come across musical challenges together.
Students ages 8 and up can participate in performance-based classes with a wide variety of offerings for all instruments and ages, both in-person and online. Each of our ensembles provides students with invaluable group rehearsal and performance experience and creates an immersive environment that allows students of various ages and ability levels to connect, collaborate, and learn together!

Bloomingdale Resident Teaching Artist, Marc Peloquin, leads a series of 4-week music courses for adults designed to give students a basic understanding of music and inspire an appreciation for music through a variety of musical styles. Each class in this lecture series will feature live demonstrations of musical concepts, discussion, and recorded listening examples. These courses will give you tools and context to better appreciate the magical world of music.
