Summer Troubadours

This summer, join a traveling band of kids in search of their instrument of choice with Bloomingdale Summer Troubadours! This week-long program is designed for children ages 6 through 9 to learn what it means to study an instrument. Children will experience the violin, piano, wind instruments, and more in daily sessions led by faculty artists specializing in each instrument. This transformative week will culminate in a student showcase open to family and friends of all participants. 

Summer Troubadours will take place Monday through Friday, July 29 – August 2, following a 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily schedule. All programming will be on site at the Bloomingdale School of Music.

What you will learn

Our Summer Troubadours will experience a broad range of instruments and engage with musical ideas through sight, sound, and movement. Developed specifically to inspire early elementary students in the initial stages of their musical journey, this program is a hands-on introduction to a diverse range of musical instruments and concepts that will lay the groundwork for future study.

INSTRUMENT DISCOVERY

Engage with faculty artists to experience piano, string, percussion, and wind instruments

MUSIC & MOVEMENT

Internalize rhythm, melody, and other musical concepts through song, solfege, Dalcroze, and theater games

PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

Learn to play a variety of percussion instruments together as an ensemble

INSTRUMENT BUILDING

Make your own instrument throughout the course of the week
