Ongama Mhlontlo

Teaches: Voice
A recent graduate of Manhattan School of Music, Ongama Mhlontlo hails from Cape Town, South Africa. Growing up in a church setting, Ongama began playing the organ at a young age when there was no one to accompany his church’s choir and developed a love and passion for music. While in high school he worked to develop a choir program, continuing that work into his undergraduate experience by working with local community-organized choirs (police, postal service, store choirs) and developing a voice and piano studio with Music Shack Music Academy. Ongama is an incredible opera singer and composer who is comfortable meeting students at their interest level and creating arrangements of popular music while connecting it to the concepts of classical study.
