At Bloomingdale School of Music, we believe in nurturing talent, fostering passion, and empowering students to reach their fullest potential. Our Music Access Project (MAP) program, under the dedicated guidance of Program Director Judy Woo, exemplifies these values by providing aspiring musicians with the tools, support, and resources they need to succeed.
Judy Woo, Director of the MAP program, shares her insights into the journey of our MAP 2024 seniors:
“Preparing for college auditions is a monumental feat for students, parents, and teachers alike. My role as the Director of the MAP program is to demystify this process, guiding students through every step and empowering them to showcase their talents with confidence.”
Throughout the academic year, MAP students engage in a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare them for college auditions and beyond. From workshops on audition preparation to masterclasses with renowned musicians, the MAP program offers a holistic approach to music education, focusing not only on technical proficiency but also on personal growth and artistic expression.
“I am immensely proud of our MAP seniors and their outstanding achievements. From the very beginning, our goal has been to cultivate a supportive and enriching environment where students can explore their passions and reach their fullest potential. Seeing them succeed and gain acceptance to top-tier institutions is incredibly rewarding.”
This year, we are thrilled to announce that our MAP seniors have achieved a remarkable milestone: a 100% college acceptance rate. These talented individuals have received acceptances from prestigious institutions across the country, including:
- Taylor Austin: Berklee College of Music
- Josh Condori: New York University (with significant scholarship!)
- Toby Chau: Stanford University
- Adam Garandza: Baruch College, CUNY
- Jared Hung: The Juilliard School
- Lancelot McQueen: Queens College, CUNY
- Daniel Perez Ponce: Queens College, CUNY
- Angel Pineda: University of Chapel Hill, University of North Carolina
- Kyler Rno: Harvard University
“One of the most rewarding aspects of running a small program like MAP is the ability to tailor our curriculum to the specific needs of our students. Through workshops, masterclasses, and personalized guidance, we ensure that each student receives the support and resources they need to thrive.”
Among our graduating seniors is Taylor Austin, whose dedication and passion for music have earned them multiple college acceptances and scholarships. Reflecting on their time at Bloomingdale, Taylor shares:
“I’ve had probably at least 30 performances during high school, I’ve worked so hard on writing and producing my own music that it got me into 7 colleges. Bloomingdale is a great place, and I am sad to leave it yet at the same time glad that other kids can experience what I have.”
As our MAP seniors prepare to embark on this new chapter of their musical journey, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to each and every one of them. Your hard work, dedication, and passion have truly paid off, and we cannot wait to see where your talents take you next.
