What you will learn

Ensemble members will learn group and solo performance techniques, character development, audition preparation, and theater terminology and history. Basic singing skills such as matching pitch are strongly encouraged and the ability to read music is helpful, but not necessary. No prior performance experience is required. The only things you need to bring are a desire to perform and an open mind.

ensemble singing

Members will practice healthy singing technique, learn musical theater vocal styles, develop harmonizing skills, and learn how to rehearse and perform with a professional pianist.

musical theater scene work

Members will receive age-appropriate scene assignments, receive personalized direction to strengthen vocal and acting abilities in a supportive environment where students can develop as well-rounded performing artists. Past repertoire includes scenes from: Gypsy, Dear Edwina, How to Eat Like a Child, Fun Home, The Sound of Music and more.

performance

Center Stage Ensemble is a musical theater workshop designed for middle school students excited to enhance their performance skills culminating in performances at The Bloomingdale’s Voice Festival, studio recitals, and members will have the opportunity to participate in mock auditions and the annual BSM performance competition.
