Argentina Guitar Duo

The Argentina Guitar Duo invites listeners on a journey through Argentina’s rich musical landscape, with fresh arrangements of folkloric works by Remo Pignoni and Carlos Aguirre alongside original masterpieces by the legendary Astor Piazzolla. From the graceful bailecito and the fiery malambo to the sensual tango, pulsating candombe, and soulful milonga, the program captures the spirit and diversity of Argentina’s musical roots.

Formed by Juan Almada and Federico Díaz, the Argentina Guitar Duo was born in 2022 from a deep artistic and personal connection. With a strong focus on chamber music, the duo brings a fresh and innovative perspective to the guitar duo repertoire. In 2024, they embarked on their first European tour, performing in Italy, France, Belgium, and Germany, and also serving as jurors at the 10th International Hannabach Guitar Competition in Augsburg. In May 2025, they did their second European tour, performing at the Ljubljana Guitar Festival (Slovenia) as well as in various cities in Italy and Spain. In October and November 2025, they will tour North America and Europe appearing at major festivals and concert series such as the 22nd Miguel Llobet International Guitar Competition in Barcelona (Spain) and the 15th Latin-American Week of Frankfurt am Main (Germany), among others. By the end of 2025, they will release their first album as a duo which features original works by the renowned American composer Frederic Hand as well as new arrangements of music by Argentinian composers Remo Pignoni and Carlos Aguirre.

This special performance is made possible by the generous support of the Bloomingdale Guitar Training Program led by Dr. José Maldonado, Director of Guitar Studies and was sponsored by the Find Your Light Foundation.
